It is used to position the roll, slide, or guiding mechanism with linear motion in edge control and web guide systems.

It is used to align the edge of a roll in unwinding and rewinding lines, adjust the slide position based on sensor feedback, and move the web guide mechanism.
Actuator selection should be based on requirements for thrust/pull force, stroke distance, speed, mounting location, and control signal. For this reason, the linear actuator is evaluated in conjunction with the mechanical structure of the edge control system.
